No not so steak steak dinner

It went fine. I need to take a deep breath and say that again slowly. It. went. fine. Or at least I think it did - it's pretty hard to have a deep philosophical conversation about divorce and the new girlfriend with a 6 yr old and an 8 yr old.
They have been to our apartment 3 times now. I have cooked. Actually, I'll amend that statement, I have cooked and 'baked'. People who know me will tell me that you would be mad not to eat my cooking, and mad if you did try my baking. Kids, it seems, are much less fickle. The rule I will adhere to religiously from here on in is that if its chocolate and it's messy, then its good.
Wow its strange to go from a zero to 3 in the space of 3 weeks. For those of you with kids, you had some warning. 9 months is the traditional notice period I think :) And after that you get plenty of practice at having your previous life systematically dismantled. For me, one day I was childless, the next - I was the bumbling (but thankfully part time) stepmother of 3.
One thing that was immediately apparent to me is that kids alter the time space continuum. However long you think its going to take, double it. Then add a bit more on just in case. Just getting dressed turns into an Oscar worthy production. Its a lot of work. But you know what? I LOVE IT.
We're going to IKEA to get bunkbeds next week. Stay tuned for the furniture assembly.
